Chelsea target Joao Cancelo joins Inter Milan from Spanish giants Valencia as Blues suffer more transfer market woe

CHELSEA have suffered another blow in the transfer market after Inter Milan confirmed the signing of Valencia star Joao Cancelo.

The Portugal international has moved to the San Siro on a season-long loan deal and has the option of making it permanent in 2018.

Cancelo built a reputation for himself as one of La Liga’s most exciting right-backs and Antonio Conte was reportedly keen on bringing him to Stamford Bridge this summer.

But the versatile ace will instead be lining up for Luciano Spalletti’s side in a switch which sees midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia move in the opposite direction.

Chelsea have famously missed out on a number of targets since winning the title, landing just three players so far.

But after beating Tottenham 2-1 at Wembley on Sunday, the Blues are even more determined to add some fresh faces before the transfer window slams shut.

Talks are expected to start for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain after the winger told Arsenal he would be signing a new contract.

Leicester striker Jamie Vardy could also be on his way to west London after an impressive start to the new campaign.

But Chelsea are still bracing themselves for Diego Costa’s impending exit, with Marseille the latest club to express an interest in the disgruntled attacker.

Michy Batshuayi could also be on his way out after struggling to fill the void in attack.

French side Lille are looking to make a big impact under new boss Marcelo Bielsa and may be willing to offer as much as £36million for the Belgian.
