MARSEILLE president Jacques-Henri Eyraud has revealed the French giants are ready to make a £27.5million move for Diego Costa.
The Spain international has no future at Chelsea and is determined to force through a move to Atletico Madrid.
But a Fifa-imposed transfer ban means the Rojiblancos are not allowed to register any new players until January — leaving Costa in limbo.
However, Marseille chief Eyraud believes he can offer the 28-year-old a solution.
He told : "What I like about the player is his character, his passion and his willingness to fight.
"He would fit in well with our team.
"I understand he was a complicated contractual situation at Chelsea.
"But if it a player ticks all the boxes, we could reach a bid of up to £27.5m.

"We know how to move cleverly in the transfer market — but certain conditions need to be met.
"For this reason, nothing is impossible."
Marseille were bought by US tycoon Frank McCourt last season and are showing the ambition to compete with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco.
In January, they signed Dimtri Payet and Patrice Evra.
