Bundesliga side Stuttgart line-up move for Leicester City’s Ghanian international star Daniel Amartey
German club reportedly open talks with Craig Shakespeare's outfit as they attempt to add 22-year-old to their squad before the end of the transfer window
STUTTGART are reportedly lining up a raid on Leicester for midfielder Daniel Amartey.
The Ghana international played a small part in the Foxes’ 2016 Premier League title success following his £6million move from FC Copenhagen that January.
Amartey, 22, went on to score once during 34 senior appearances last season.
Germans Stuttgart now want him to strengthen their squad following promotion back to the Bundesliga.
And reports in Stuttgarter Zeitung claim club officials have opened talks with their King Power counterparts about a deal for Amartey.
The star is under contact until 2020 with Craig Shakespeare’s side.
The African powerhouse is one of ten midfielders battling for a place in the squad this season.
He is understood to be tempted by the prospect of moving to Stuttgart.
He would team-up with fellow Ghanaian midfielders Hans Sarpei and Ebenezer Ofori at the 60,000-capacity Mercedes-Benz Arena.
And the five-times national champions are now ready to test the Foxes’ resolve to keep hold of Amartey before the transfer window closes.
They won the second division in style in May.
However, they are desperate to reinforce their squad for the Bundesliga battles to come.
