NEIL LENNON was the victim of horrifying death threats and calls for him to be shot over the weekend.
The former player and Bolton Wanderers manager, now boss of Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership, suffered a series of sick posts on social media.
Lennon, also formerly in charge at , was warned he might be ambushed on his way to work at Easter Road stadium in Edinburgh.
Police are probing the vile threats made against Lennon, who is no stranger to such threats.

But it is threats against his personal safety made on a Facebook page frequented by die-hard Rangers fans that has caused the most alarm.
Police Scotland say they’re taking the issue so seriously they’ve drafted in officers from a specialist football liaison unit to help with their enquiries.

PAST THREATS MADE AGAINST NEIL LENNON
- In September 2008 Lennon was assaulted in the West End of Glasgow. His attackers were subsequently charged, convicted and jailed for two years.
- In January 2011, the Royal Mail intercepted packages containing bullets addressed to Neil Lennon and Celtic and Northern Ireland players Niall McGinn and Paddy McCourt.
- Two months later Lennon and two high-profile fans of Celtic were sent parcel bombs.
- Later that year a Hearts fan was found guilty of a breach of the peace after running into Lennon's technical area.
A spokesperson said: “Police Scotland are aware of offensive and threatening comments posted on social media concerning a named individual.
“Enquiries are currently ongoing.”
In the thread – seen by The Scottish Sun – there are calls for him to be attacked, ambushed and shot.
One fan, who claims to have previous firearms offences charges, even tells how he is willing to carry out the hit.
Among the threats posters say: “Someone give me a weapon and I will shoot this little terrorist c**t in the head with impunity.
