PERFECT PARTNERS

Leicester boss Craig Shakespeare believes Kelechi Iheanacho can form a deadly duo with Jamie Vardy

CRAIG SHAKESPEARE says it only took minutes of Kelechi Iheanacho’s Leicester City debut to confirm he can form a deadly dream double-act with Jamie Vardy.

The Foxes boss spent all summer trying to pull off the 20-year-old striker’s complicated £25million move from Manchester City.

And now he believes the effort was worth it and that Iheanacho will complete Vardy rather than compete with him!

Within minutes of sending his new boy on against Borussia Monchengladbach, Iheanacho sped through on goal but instead of pulling the trigger, squared to leave Vardy with a tap-in.

Shakespeare is still likely to use Iheanacho from the bench again in Friday night’s Premier League opener against Arsenal.

But he has no doubts the duo can form a deadly partnership.

He said: “They can play together, most definitely.

“You’ve seen how they linked up – good players can.

“I thought Kelechi was really unselfish for a young player making his debut.

“You would think he might take that chance himself.

“But to spot Jamie, then play him in with the weight of pass he did for Jamie to finish, shows his awareness and his unselfishness.
