EVERTON will reportedly switch attentions to Danny Welbeck if they fail to land Arsenal team-mate Olivier Giroud.
The Toffees have enjoyed a busy summer and wanted to round off their transfer business with the French forward.
But Giroud, 30, is waiting to see how much he features in Arsene Wenger’s plans after the arrival of Alexandre Lacazette.
And now the are claiming Ronald Koeman will turn to Welbeck if he fails to land his No1 target.
Everton are looking for a new focal point of their attack as they head into the new Premier League campaign.
Koeman wants a new No9 to play in front of Wayne Rooney after selling Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United for £75million.
They have also added Sandro Ramirez to their ranks but still want a genuine target man to lead the line.
Arsenal would be looking for a fee of around £30m for England international Welbeck.

That would be almost double the £16m they shelled out to bring him to North London from Old Trafford three years ago.
Giroud had looked set to depart the Emirates this summer, especially after the signing of Lacazette.
But he is prepared to take his time to see how he fits into Wenger’s plans before deciding to move.
Welbeck could be tempted to join the Goodison Park outfit if he feels his playing time will be restricted.
He has close links with Rooney from their time at the Red Devils.
And the opportunity to link-up again with his old strike partner could lead to a reunion.
