Neymar ‘convinced Dani Alves to reject Manchester City and join him at PSG’ as £198million move from Barcelona draws closer
He also urged Ligue 1 giants to pursue move for good pal Philippe Coutinho and ditch attacking rival Lucas Moura
DANI ALVES may have been convinced to snub Manchester City and join Paris Saint-Germain by Neymar, according to reports in Catalonia.
Sport also claim the 25-year-old attacker has also tried to persuade his soon-to-be new club to sign good pal Philippe Coutinho and to sell Lucas Moura, who he doesn’t enjoy the best relationship with.
The imminent £198million deal is believed to have been in the offing for a few weeks now and the Brazil striker has allegedly been preparing behind the scenes.
Alves looked certain to join City on a free transfer after cancelling his contract at Juventus.
However, at the 11th hour, he performed a U-turn and signed for PSG.
Shortly after the right-back completed his move to the Parc des Princes, news began to emerge that Neymar — who enjoyed a good relationship with Alves at the Nou Camp — could be set to leave Barcelona.
Now the two will be team-mates again next season in the French capital.
And Neymar’s influence behind the scenes as PSG isn’t just restricted to the arrival of Alves.
He is understood to have encouraged the club to chase Liverpool ace Coutinho, who is also a target for Barcelona.
The pair, who are both 25, have been good friends since the age 14.
However, the Ligue 1 giants are unlikely bring in both — with serious fears the Neymar deal alone is in danger of breaching Financial Fair Play rules.
Finally, the incoming striker has urged the club to sell Lucas, who has no real relationship with.
PSG will need to sell some of their attacking talents to make room for Neymar — both on the pitch and in the bank.
And Lucas looks like being the first one of out of the door.
