GYLFI SIGURDSSON is set to seal a £50million switch to Everton by the weekend.
Swansea’s Icelandic midfielder, 27, will become the Toffees’ club-record signing and take Ronald Koeman’s summer spending past £140m.
Swans boss Paul Clement, resigned to losing Sigurdsson, said: “Talks are still going on and, hopefully, we are going to get some news in the next couple of days.”
Koeman hopes he will be able to offer Sigurdsson a European adventure this season.
Sigurdsson pulled out of Swansea’s pre-season tour to the USA last month because he did not feel in the right frame of mind.
The 50-cap Iceland playmaker will not feature in the Swans’ final friendly against Sampdoria on Saturday.
Instead he could even make his Toffees bow against Sevilla at Goodison Park on Sunday.
He will join big summer arrivals Wayne Rooney, Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane and Davy Klaassen on Merseyside.
PREMIER LEAGUE TRANSFER NEWS
Koeman's side face Slovakians Ruzomberok in the second leg of their Europa League third-qualifying round tie on Thursday tonight.
He knows Everton must not take their eye off the ball if they are to play in Europe next season.
The Toffees hold a 1-0 first-leg lead thanks to Leighton Baines’ deflected strike.
When asked about Sigurdsson, Koeman said: “We are interested in the player. Let’s hope we sign him — but more important is the Europa result.
