Pep Guardiola has now spent nearly £1BILLION in transfer fees during management spells at Manchester City, Barcelona and Bayern Munich

In signing Benjamin Mendy, the Spaniard has now reached ten-figures when it comes to splashing out on new players

PEP GUARDIOLA has been a busy boy this summer as he has brought in a host of expensive reinforcements to his Manchester City squad.

The Spanish chief kicked off this transfer window by bringing in £35million goalkeeper Ederson from Benfica and Monaco midfielder Bernardo Silva for £43m.

After a host of full-backs, including Pablo Zabaleta, Gael Clichy and Aleksandar Kolarov were allowed to leave, Pep swooped to bolster his back four.

The signing of Kyle Walker from Tottenham cost City £45m, before Danilo (£26.5m) and Benjamin Mendy (£49m) also joined.

Brazilian teenager Douglas Luiz, bought for a comparatively cheap £10m, was also snuck in this summer as the City spending machine has been in full flow.

But most incredibly, in splashing the cash this summer, Guardiola's career spending has now topped the €1BILLION (£900m) mark.

The 46-year-old has only been a first-team manager since 2008, when he took over the reins at Barcelona.

But through his four years at the Catalan giants, three seasons at Bayern Munich and now little over a year at City, he has managed to reach ten-figures.

During his spell at the Nou Camp Guardiola spent €383m (£340m) on stars including massive moves for Zlatan Ibrahimovic (£59m) - with Samuel Eto'o moving to Inter as part of the deal - and David Villa (£37m).

Three years at Bayern Munich followed, with Pep spending a comparatively low €195m (174m), including the £34m move for Mario Gotze and a £30m swoop for Arturo Vidal from Juventus.

However, in a little over 12 months in charge at the Etihad Stadium, Guardiola has already splashed a mind-blowing €459m (£410m).

Of the Spaniard's ten most expensive signings, SIX come from Manchester City - with four of those coming this summer alone.

Guardiola broke the record for the most expensive defender twice in quick succession with the signings of Walker and Mendy earlier this summer.

On top of that, the City boss had already spent big to bring in John Stones last summer, with Ederson, Leroy Sane and Silva also costing Pep big money.

In total, during his nine years as a manager, Guardiola has spent €1,037,000,000 (£925,200,000).

Next up, cracking the £1billion barrier...
