Alvaro Morata says it was his ‘destiny’ to play under Chelsea boss Antonio Conte… and reveals his delight as joining the ‘the best club in England’
Stamford Bridge new-boy revealed admiration for new boss as he spoke for first time since £65m move from Real Madrid
ALVARO MORATA says he feels good after he 'signed with the best club of England.'
The Stamford Bridge new-boy appeared on Chelsea TV to give his first interview since his £65million move from Real Madrid.
And Morata, 24, believes it was fate that he would play under Blues boss Antonio Conte, after narrowly missing him at Juventus in 2014.
The Spaniard said: "I know Antonio wanted me in the past and I really want to work with Antonio, and finally destiny put us together.
"I can't wait to play for him and for Chelsea and to win together.
"It was disappointing in 2014 when he went to Italy, but I played well and had a good year at Juventus, but I really want to work with this coach and finally I can.
"I know his work, the staff. I know it is a lot of tactics and I really like this game and I know how to play with this system."
Morata returned to Madrid in 2016 but failed to cement a first-team place under coach Zinedine Zidane.
And Chelsea's new No 9 revealed he jumped at the chance to move to the Premier League - as it has been a long-term ambition.
He added: "I feel good. I signed with the best club of England. I'm so happy, so proud.
"I can't wait for play at the Stamford Bridge and to see all the supporters and to play with [the] Chelsea shirt."
"It is the perfect situation. I decided to play in the Premier League and I want to play in Antonio's team.
"Now I need to work hard, score goals and to play well for the team. There are very good players here and I think we can do something amazing this year.
"It is hard to leave Madrid but it is not so hard when you come to a club like Chelsea, with these players and with this coach, and I think we can play against Real Madrid and Barcelona and win.
"When I was little I watched with my dad and it is incredible, a lot of goals and fast matches and I really want to play here.
"When I was little I saw Didier Drogba, Andriy Shevchenko, Fernando Torres and thought probably in a few years I will take this place, and now it is the dream to take the Chelsea No 9 shirt.
"I can't wait to play at Stamford Bridge and in the Premier League."
Morata is currently with the rest of his new team-mates on their pre-season tour of Asia.
The hitman will make his debut against Bayern Munich in Singapore on Tuesday.
And he admitted Chelsea's contingent of Spanish players, including Cesar Azpilicueta, Cesc Fabregas, Pedro and Marcos Alonso, have helped him settle in.
He said: "For me it is very good I have many Spanish players here but I think I need to speak a lot with the other team-mates to learn good English!"
