Morata claimed the influence of Italian chief Conte was vital in him swapping Real Madrid for the Premier League champions.

When asked why he agreed to join Chelsea, Morata said: "Chelsea is the best club.

"Antonio Conte is one of the best coaches in the world and I am so happy to work with him."

Morata also asked how close he was to joining Manchester United, with Jose Mourinho's side the favourites to land him earlier this summer.

Chelsea's strong Spanish core was also crucial in Morata moving to Stamford Bridge, with Cesar Azpilicueta, Pedro and Cesc Fabregas on the books.

On his move, Morata told of a talk he had with fellow Spain international Azpilicueta.

The forward said: "I speak with Azpilicueta and he told me everything is OK here."
