Kelechi Iheanacho transfer exit confirmed by Pep Guardiola with Leicester poised to sign Man City forward for £25m
The Nigerian striker is close to leaving the Etihad as part of boss Pep Guardiola's summer clear-out
PEP GUARDIOLA has confirmed that Kelechi Iheanacho is on his way out of Manchester City.
The Nigerian was left out of City's tour party in order to complete his £25million move to Leicester this week.
The Foxes are closing in on the Nigerian striker, 20, who has been told he is no longer part of Etihad boss Guardiola's long-term plans.
The City boss admitted: "Kelechi’s a young player. It’s not easy for him.
"He needs to play at that age and that’s why he, and the club decided it was best for him (to leave).
Iheanacho has banged in 12 goals in 46 Prem games for City and despite limited starts he still hit eight in 30 appearances last season.
West Ham and Newcastle have also shown an interest but a switch to the King Power Stadium should be finalised in the next few days.
City flew out to Houston this week for their preseason tour to the US.
Also missing from the travelling party were midfielders Fernando and Fabian Delph, along with striker Wilfried Bony.
However, Guardiola says that Bony has not been frozen out of his plans:
The Spaniard added: "Bony’s injured. If he wasn’t injured, he would be here. It’s a little problem."
City are looking to tie up permanent exits for all three and are hopeful of sorting it by the end of the month.
Samir Nasri, Eliaquim Mangala and Jason Denayer all boarded the long flight to Texas although all three are free to leave.
