Kyle Walker signs for Manchester City from Tottenham for £50m as Pep Guardiola finally lands England right-back on five-year deal
Boss Guardiola has been trying to sign right-back all summer and now finally has his man after snub from Dani Alves
KYLE WALKER has signed for Manchester City in a £50million deal.
Pep Guardiola was desperate to land the Spurs right-back after Dani Alves' snub and has now got his man on a five-year deal.
The England right-back will earn £150,000 a week, meaning the total value of the deal could go to £89m.
Walker said: "I am thrilled to be signing for City and can’t wait to get started.
"Pep Guardiola is one of the most respected managers in the world and I feel he can help me take my game to a new level."
City will pay £45m in instalments but could pay another £5m in add-ons.
Txiki Begiristain, City director of football, added: "Kyle is a fine full-back, one capable of producing quality at both ends of the pitch.
"We’ve followed his progress at Tottenham and have been really impressed by how he has developed.
"He is now one of the best right-backs in the Premier League and justifiably an England regular.
"I am sure he will be a success at Manchester City this season and beyond."
Spurs could net an extra £2.5m in City win the Champions League.
They will also receive £1.5m for every time City win the Prem title with Walker in the ranks.
And they will be due an extra £1m for any Europa League win and £0.5m for each time City qualify for the Champions League.
There is every chance that the overall fee could rise to a figure which would match the £50m that Chelsea paid to re-sign David Luiz from Paris Saint-Germain.
But the Walker deal will still fall short of that figure - unless City can bag a load of silverware in the right-back's time with the club.
That would also make him the most expensive English player, with the fee eclipsing the £49m City paid to Liverpool for Raheem Sterling.
