Barcelona stars Lionel Messi and Neymar want Dele Alli to join them as La Liga club ‘launch £40million bid for Tottenham star’

The England international shone for Spurs last season and has reportedly caught the eye of Barca's two top forwards

LIONEL MESSI and Neymar have urged Barcelona chiefs to bring Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli to the club, according to reports.

Alli, 21, shone for Spurs last season scoring 18 goals and providing seven assists as the North London club finished runners up in the Premier League.

Spanish publication are reporting that two of Barca's biggest stars are eager for the club to buy Alli.

And it looks like the Catalonians have obliged after reports emerged of a £40m bid for the England international.

Barca are on the hunt for a new midfielder with the club linked with moves for PSG star Marco Verratti and Liverpool's Phillipe Coutinho.

But a move for either has failed to materialise and it is reported that Barca will now try and bring in highly rated Alli.

Tottenham are unlikely to sell Alli after he penned a new contract with the club until 2021.

They are under no pressure to sell and it would take a huge bid from Barca to prise away the former MK Dons player.

Spurs have been quiet in the transfer window so far but have made £50m after agreeing to sell Kyle Walker to Manchester City.

The Citizens lodged their bid for the England star yesterday morning and Spurs have accepted the offer.

The deal could eventually end up costing City an additional £5m with add-ons dependent on appearances and success.

Tottenham were reluctant to lose the right-back and had been holding out for the huge sum all summer.

City had been dragging their heels but have sprung into action after missing out on veteran Dani Alves.
