Dani Alves joining Paris Saint-Germain over Manchester City is taking easy option — like when he signed for Juventus
Brazilian full-back will sign for Ligue 1 giants on £230,000-a-week and just comfortably add to burgeoning trophy cabinet
DANI ALVES has once again taken the easy option by choosing Paris Saint-Germain, where he will just coast to success with minimal effort.
Manchester City would have provided him with a genuine challenge.
But the Brazilian will see out the final years of his career enhancing his trophy cabinet — and his wallet — at PSG, without needing to do very much.
Just as he did last term at Juventus.
Forget the impressive end-of-season goals against Monaco and in the Coppa Italia final.
He was awful for much of the campaign.
His dedication — or severe lack of — was evidenced when he missed kick off in the Champions League quarter-final clash with his former as he was busy shaking hands with the entire Barcelona bench.
And he later infuriated fans by posting a picture of the boots he wore when the Catalans beat Juventus the 2015 final.

Alves claimed he joined the Serie A giants because it was “too easy” at Barcelona and he had to leave his “comfort zone” — yet he joined a club which had won all six of the domestic trophies on offer over the previous two seasons.
Now, he’s opted to join a club which will dominate the large majority of games it plays domestically and comfortably add more trophies to his burgeoning cabinet without needing to exert himself too much.
Look, I’m now great lover of City.
And, Alves is one of the most successful footballers of all time with his 33 major trophies.
But he could have enjoyed a different kind of success in Manchester.
At City, his Champions League-winning experience could prove invaluable.
He would have been an integral member of the team — not just a good player lost among several other stars.
Maybe he wouldn’t have won the biggest honours at the Etihad given his age, but for a club trying to make it to the big time, just having him there could have changed the whole mentality of the club.
A little like Zlatan Ibrahimovic has done at Manchester United.
The likes of Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard have regularly spoken of the positive influence the Swede has had on them.
But Alves picked the easy option.
Following his departure from Italy, an unnamed Juventus director was recently quoted as saying: “Goodbye and thanks for nothing.”
You see, Alves talks a good game.
He regularly explains how he hates fame.
While he also criticises young footballers for their poor attitude — exactly what fans want to hear.
And he follows it up appalling cheating and embarrassing overreactions to minor contact on the pitch.
Not to mention the constant harassing of referees.
The 34-year-old’s transfer to PSG means highly-rated 24-year-old Serge Aurier will likely leave the Parc des Princes.
City should just cut out the middle man and move for the Ivory Coast international.
