JOHN TERRY will sign for Aston Villa TODAY.

SunSport exclusively revealed the former Chelsea captain would sign a £60,000-a-week deal.

And he is expected to complete the move in the next 24 hours before flying out to Villa’s pre-season training camp in the Algarve.

Terry will seal a one-year deal before meeting his new team-mates.

Villa have persuaded the 36-year-old to continue his career in the Championship after a 20-year spell at Stamford Bridge.

It means boss Steve Bruce has fended off Premier League interest in Terry from West Brom and Bournemouth — with Stoke also making an enquiry.

The Chelsea legend became a free agent at the weekend and Villa have been stepping up their bid to make sure Terry is on board for next season’s promotion push.

Terry could also have played in the USA or China — or even quit playing completely.

But he wanted to avoid playing against his former club, which means he was happy to drop down a division for the right deal.

Bruce is also believed to have offered Terry the chance to move into coaching during his time at Villa Park.

Terry also had a chance to join up with Harry Redknapp at Villa’s second city rivals Birmingham but looks to have opted for Bruce instead.

Villa have set up base in the Algarve this week with the new season just over a month away.

Bruce’s interest in signing Terry was fuelled last month when the pair were pictured playing golf.
