Renato Sanches posts video on his Instagram account counting wads of cash and holding bank notes up to his face
Footballer posted on Facebook apologising for the 'tasteless' clip and said that it will 'serve as a lesson for the future'
BAYERN MUNICH midfielder Renato Sanches uploaded a 'tasteless' video showing him counting through wads of cash before appearing to smell the banknotes.
The 19-year-old Portugal footballer then posted a grovelling apology on his official Facebook page, describing the clip as "tasteless" and that it will "serve as a lesson for the future".
Sanches, who is currently playing for Portugal in the European U21 Championship, has so far failed to live up to the £27.5million Bayern paid Benfica for him in May last year.
And this latest drama will no doubt lead to many thinking it's all been a bit too much too soon for the teenager.
His apology on read: "There are tasteful jokes and others that are distasteful.
"In the face of what was released today, I have to atone for being distasteful, but also for the futile and ill-considered attitude I had.
"There is no excuse for this taking place, even in a small circle of friends and holiday atmosphere.
"My origins taught me to value what we can achieve with hard work and can only admit that my action was totally thoughtless.

"I assure you I am not like that, and I will always will fight, on and off the field, to be an example of professionalism, humility, character and dignity.
"It will serve as a lesson for the future!"
Sanches only started six Bundesliga games, failing to score or provide an assist in 25 appearances in all competitions — completing 90 minutes on just one occasion.
The former Benfica man’s disappointing season was compounded by the fact that he was demoted to Portugal’s under 21 side this summer.
