Aleksandar Kolarov wants Lazio return when his Manchester City contract expires
Serbia international defender, 31, has a year left on his contract and is keen on a move back to the Italian capital
ALEKSANDAR KOLAROV has his heart set on an emotional return to Lazio.
The Manchester City defender, 31, has a year left on his contract and is keen on a move back to the Italian capital.
Kolarov has made almost 250 appearances over seven years at the Etihad since joining from the Biancocelesti in a £16million deal.
Now, after two Prem titles, an FA Cup and a League Cup, he admits that a stint back at Lazio would be too appealing to turn down.
He told Il Messaggero: "I'd like to return one day because Rome remains in my heart.
"I am no longer young but I can still have a say.
“I've won everything in Manchester but Italy is something else.
“Even if stadiums and the football is still behind, I've always missed it.
“Forza Lazio and greetings to every tifoso.”
Kolarov has been keeping a keen eye on Lazio's transfer dealings.

And he expects the club, who finished fifth in Serie A last season, to wrap up a deal for Atalanta skipper Alejandro Gomez.
The 68-cap Serbian also hailed countryman and Lazio ace Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
Liverpool are said to have seen a £24m bid for the midfielder, 22, slapped down and Arsenal are also monitoring him.
Kolarov added: "I'm sure Lazio will have a strong squad for Europa League and in my opinion, they'll get Gomez.
“Regarding Milinkovic-Savic, he's an amazing player, he's Lazio's and the national team's future".
Kolarov remains Pep Guardiola's only full-back at present after City let Gael Clichy, Pablo Zabaleta and Bacary Sagna leave.
Guardiola is close to bagging Dani Alves, while he also wants Kyle Walker.
