Manchester United join Arsenal in Kieran Tierney chase after scouting him against England
Scottish international valued at £15million after outstanding for Celtic last year
MANCHESTER UNITED are keeping tabs on Celtic ace Kieran Tierney and could battle it out with Arsenal for his signature this summer.
United sent scouts to run the rule over the defender, who featured for Scotland in the 2-2 draw against England at Hampden Park earlier this month.
Tierney, 20, was outstanding under the guidance of Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers last season and is regarded as one the best young defenders in Europe.
Jose Mourinho is in the market for a left-back after being less than impressed with Luke Shaw last season.
Shaw is fighting for his United future and has returned early for pre-season to get himself in the best possible shape for the new campaign.
Arsenal have also been tracking his progress and with Kieran Gibbs’ future uncertain, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger could see the youngster as an alternative to new boy Sead Kolasinac.
United’s needs seem greater with right-back Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind stepping in at left-back ahead of the England international last season.
Tierney has only been a regular for two seasons at Celtic Park and is valued at £15million, however the Scottish giants will fight to keep the current squad together, including Everton target Moussa Demeble.
