Arsenal transfer news: Alexandre Lacazette could be on his way to the Emirates as Lyon president confirms he has received ‘very nice offer from Gunners’
LYON'S president has confirmed the club have received a ‘very nice offer from Arsenal’ for Alexandre Lacazette.
The Gunners have been huge fans of the French striker, 26, for years now - but have seriously stepped up their pursuit this summer.
However, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas claimed that while they'd received the offer, he was confident Lacazette would stay at the club.
During a Q&A session on Friday, Aulas said: "Lacazette was told he could leave.
"We now have a very nice offer from Arsenal. But for us he will not leave."
France international Lacazette had agreed on a deal to join La Liga giants Atletico Madrid earlier this summer.
But the Spanish side had their transfer ban upheld, meaning the move fell through, with Arsenal put on red alert.
Lacazette has been sensational for Lyon, having scored 129 goals in just 275 games for the Ligue 1 club.
Earlier this week, Aulas and club boss Gerard Houllier flew to London to talk through a potential transfer with Arsenal.
It is also believed Lyon’s representatives also enquired about a potential move for frustrated forward Olivier Giroud – who is seeking more game-time next season.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are still hoping to tie up a monster £100million plus deal for Monaco star forward Kylian Mbappe.
A potential deal could include Giroud heading the other way, as Arsene Wenger looks to bolster his attacking ranks, as Alexis Sanchez edges towards a move away from the Emirates.
