Manchester United join Chelsea and Arsenal in race for Borussia Dortmund ace Sokratis Papastathopoulos
Premier League heavyweights heading for a £23million tug-of-war over experienced Greek defender
MANCHESTER UNITED look to be ready for a tug-of-war over Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos with Arsenal and Chelsea.
The three Premier League heavyweights could be heading for a bidding war over the £23.8million-rated Greek player.
But Arsenal are also keen to add him to their ranks.
And all three English clubs are desperately hunting for defensive reinforcements this summer.
Papastathopoulos, aged 29, impressed for the Bundesliga club this season, racking up 26 appearances in the league.
He is out of contract in 2019 so Dortmund know now might be the best time to cash in on him to claim the largest transfer fee.
Papastathopoulos has made 155 appearances for Dortmund since joining the Bundesliga outfit back in 2013.
After the final game of the season, Papastathopoulos said: “If you’re young, you have a lot of time to win things.
“But I’m not young any more, time is getting shorter and I really want to win a title.”
He has also played for Werder Bremen, AC Milan, Genoa and AEK Athens in his long career.
