Sweden 2 France 1: Ola Toivonen scores from inside his OWN HALF as Sweden win it at the death

It will be one France goalkeeper Hugo Lloris will not want to see again - his pass went straight to Toivonen who did the rest

SWEDEN stunned France with a spectacular goal scored by Ola Toivonen from inside his OWN HALF at the death to win all three points in their World Cup Qualifier tonight.

With the teams looking like they were going to have to settle for a point apiece, Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris made a cardinal error that cost his side victory.

The 30-year-old didn't even need a touch as he hammered the ball straight back from where it came, and it needed only one bounce before finding the back of the net.

He was around five yards inside his own half. After the ball crossed the line Toivonen lifted his arms in the air before being mobbed by his team-mates.

Lloris was left crestfallen, his team-mates slumped to the pitch with a defeat that sees France knocked off the top of Group A - replaced by the men in yellow.

It was a game of spectacular goals.

Olivier Giroud reminded Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger just what he has in his locker as he netted a worldie for France's opener in the 37th minute.

The 30-year-old was selected ahead of teen sensation Kylian Mbappe in the starting line-up by Didier Deschamps, and it proved a wise move.

The ball fell to the striker in the corner of the box, and he fizzed an effort with his left foot that curled into the top corner.

Giroud's spectacular goal was cancelled out by Jimmy Durmaz just six minutes later however.

The Toulouse man cracked his own left-footer past Lloris into the goal for the equaliser.
