Voter spoils his ballot paper by writing #WengerOut for ‘banter’… despite Arsene Wenger signing a new two-year deal last month
The Frenchman signed a new two-year deal with the club last month, but some Gunners fans are still doing anything they can to make their voices heard
AN Arsenal-supporting voter scrawled "#WengerOut X" on his ballot paper in the latest public stunt aimed at getting Arsene Wenger out of the club.
The Frenchman signed a new two-year deal with the Gunner last month, but some unhappy fans fans are still doing anything they can to oust him.
After the Conservatives suffered an embarrassing loss in the polls, leaving them without a majority in Parliament, an Arsenal fan named 'Ben' made the gesture on his ballot paper.
It is not known if the image is genuine or a mocked-up ballot paper.
The paper does not feature the names of any candidate MPs on it, which are usually printed next to the name of their affiliate political party.
The Emirates Stadium sits in the middle of Labour's London heartland in Islington and Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn's constituency of Islington North sits in the area.
But that did not stop this gutsy Gunners fan spoiling his paper out of protest.
Tens of thousands of ballot papers up and down the country are spoiled every election and it turns out this one is no different.
It is unlikely, but it could be construed as against the law to take pictures in polling stations, with section 66 of the Representation of the People Act requiring those who work in polling stations to keep voting secret.
There is no stipulation to say you can't take a selfie or a picture in a polling booth, but the laws could be tightened in the future to keep peoples' ballots a secret, but nobody has ever been arrested for it.
Meanwhile, Arsenal manager Wenger has had months of enduring difficult protests and as his side's season fell apart during crucial points of their Premier League campaign.
They were also knocked out of the Champions League by Bayern Munich 10-2 on aggregate.
But the FA Cup final win over Chelsea saved Arsenal's season and possibly Wenger's job with Stan Kroenke insisting on a new two-year deal.
And 'Wenger Out' banners have popped up in all sorts of random places, including a Stormzy concert, at WrestleMania in Orlando and at the England vs Ireland ODI cricket match.
