All you need to know as South American giants meet in one of world football's biggest rivalries

But that will most certainly not mean taking their feet off the gas.

Here is everything you need to know about the match between the rivals.

When is Brazil vs Argentina and where can I watch it?

Brazil take on Argentina on Friday, June 9 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

The match will kick off at 11.05am UK time and 8.05pm local time.

It will not be broadcast on television in the UK but you can keep up with all the action on the SunSport live blog.

Will Lionel Messi and Neymar be playing for the two teams?

Lionel Messi is certain to start in the match with new Argentina boss Jorge Sampaoli set to coach the five-time Ballon d'Or winner for the first time.

But Neymar has been left behind and earns a well-deserved break, having led Brazil to World Cup qualification before any other team.

Chelsea star Willian is set to replace the Brazil captain as he looks to prove himself at the highest level internationally.

Who has won the most games between Brazil and Argentina?

Brazil have had the better of meetings with their eternal rivals, winning 44 matches to the Argentines' 38.

Their last victory came as recently as last November, and could potentially be the most damaging yet for Argentina.

Neymar, Philippe Coutinho and Paulinho all outshone Lionel Messi to get on the scoresheet in a 3-0 rout.

Partly as a result of that match, the Argentines are far from assured of World Cup qualification.

As things stand they would finish 5th and go into a play-off against the winner of Oceania's qualifying.

But they are just two points ahead of Ecuador and could still miss out, with a tough trip to Quito to come.
