Now it appears Jose Mourinho's United are keen to land his services, according to L'Equipe.

The Special One is in desperate need of attacking reinforcements for the 2017-18 season.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic may opt against a second year at the club and even if he stays he is ruled out of action until 2018 with an ACL injury.

Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial have also been wholly underwhelming, with Marcus Rashford a rare bright spot in United's attacking ranks.

Mourinho is now hoping to land Lacazette and be the man to finally bring his talents to the Premier League.

United are in pole position now, edging out Borussia Dortmund - with the Bundesliga giants waiting until Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's future is decided, one way or the other.

Lacazette is said to be unsure of a move to the Emirates after Arsene Wenger's failure to bring him to England 12 months ago.
