EVERTON are close to completing a move for former Southampton right-back Cuco Martina.
The Curacao international was released by the Saints at the end of the season, and is set to be reunited with his old manager Ronald Koeman.
Martina will provide experienced cover for Seamus Coleman, who is recovering from a horrific double-leg break while on international duty with Republic of Ireland.
Martina, 27, started 18 matches for Southampton in all competitions last season, but with Coleman not expected back to full fitness for a while yet, he has the chance to nail down a spot at Everton.
Former Saints boss Ronald Koeman tried to bring the 27-year-old Dutch defender to Goodison as cover last summer.
But the South Coast club refused to sanction the move.

Now they confirmed that the former FC Twente man is one of four players to be released along with Lloyd Isgrove, Harley Willard and Martin Caceres.
Martina, from Rotterdam, can also play at centre back and his flexibility is viewed as a plus ahead of a busy campaign.
Some reports have suggested he has already flown to Merseyside as the Blues finalise making him their first recruit of the summer.
