The 22-year-old came through the ranks at La Masia - but has been the butt of jokes for rivals Spurs' fans this season.

He could yet remain a vital part of Arsene Wenger's plans - with the French boss set to have a new two-year deal announced tomorrow.

Also included in Valverde's shopping list is Manchester United's Ander Herrera.

It's been a bit of a back-and-forth with Jose Mourinho's midfielder and a move to Spain.

Especially as reports yesterday claimed Herrera, despite Barca interest, will snub their overtures to remain at Old Trafford and he could be in place for a new long-term deal.

The final name is 22-year-old French defender Aymeric Laporte, who plays for Valverde's old club, Athletic Bilbao.

Laporte helped the La Liga side to their first piece of silverware in 31 years when they won the Spanish Super Cup last year.

And in June of 2016 he renewed his contract until 2020, with his buyout clause rising to what is thought to be around £56million.

So it will take a significant fee to see his travel across Spain to link up with his ex-boss.
