Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola to splash out on two new defenders with Marquinhos and Aymeric Laporte targeted

MANCHESTER CITY boss Pep Guardiola wants to bring in two of Europe's top defenders to reinforce his defence.

The City boss fancies bringing Aymeric Laporte and Marquinhos to the Etihad in a bid to plug the gaps in his side's leaky defence.

City conceded 39 goals last season in the Premier League, compared to Tottenham's defence that conceded just 26.

And according to the , the Spaniard is keen to bring in Paris Saint-Germain's Brazilian ace Marquinhos and Athletic Bilbao's Aymeric Laporte.

The duo would provide considerable strength in depth to City's defence, with Kyle Walker and keeper Ederson Moraes being targeted.

That follows City's surprise capture of Bernardo Silva last week for £43million.

Ederson is expected to follow for around £33m and has flown into Manchester for a medical.

That follows the imminent exit of Nolito, who told Marca that he is on his way out of the Etihad.

And with the squad a tad crowded in his position, no City fan could probably blame him.
