Manchester City to insist on buy-back clause in any deal for Kelechi Iheanacho as West Ham eye £20m swoop
Nigerian striker has fallen down the pecking order at City and an exit is on the cards with Pep Guardiola looking to spend big this summer
MANCHESTER CITY want to insert a buy-back clause if they are are to sell Kelechi Iheanacho this summer.
West Ham, Everton and Leicester City are in the mix for the striker, who looks surplus to requirements at the Etihad.
The report the City hierarchy do not want to be caught out like Chelsea, who sold Romelu Lukaku to Everton without any buy-back option or price agreed.
The 20-year-old striker, valued at £20million has struggled to kick on after an impressive first season in the Premier League last term under Manuel Pellegrini.
The Nigerian only started five league games in Pep Guardiola's first season in charge, but still managed to score seven goals with three assists.
The Hammers, in desperate need of firepower next term, will want any agreed buy-back fee to be at least double what they pay for Iheanacho this summer, but City may push for less than £30million.
Iheanacho, who joined the City academy in 2014, dismissed speculation he could follow Gael Clichy, Bacary Sagna and Willy Caballero out of the club.
He told the :"I'm not very aware of that, I just keep working with the team.
"I'm still at Manchester City so I'll meet up with the boys and kick off the season with Manchester City.
"I'm happy to stay at Manchester City and keep fighting to help them achieve what they want to achieve.
"Manchester City is a big team and we need to go far as a squad, so we need everybody."
