Italian led the Giallorossi to record points tally of 87 and automatic qualification for Champions League group stages
LUCIANO SPALLETTI has left his position as Roma manager — and is now expected to be named Inter Milan boss.
The Giallorossi notched a record-high points total of 87 and direct passage into the Champions League group stages.
But, as expected, decided to stand down after the final game of the season and is understood to be the name charged with starting the re-building process at Inter.

Roma president Jim Pallotta said: “We would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Luciano Spalletti for all of his hard work and the significant contribution he has made to the club since his return.
“Under his stewardship this season, the team has won more Serie A points and scored more goals than any side in Roma’s history.
“We wish Luciano all the best for the future.
“This club is on a constant path of growth and that will continue with the appointment of a new coach who shares our values and philosophy and who will continue to help us take AS Roma forward.”
Roma recovered from the early blow of elimination in the Champions League play-offs to take the Serie A title race until the penultimate day of the season when many expected Juventus to wrap it up much earlier.
This was Spalletti’s second spell with the club and, in his first period at the Stadio Olimpico, he won the Coppa Italia.
There will be no time to rest as Inter have a busy summer in mind, and he will be named full-time boss.
The Nerazzurri have endured a torrid season.
Frank De Boer was sacked before Christmas and his replacement Stefano Pioli initially steered the ship, before being dismissed with just three matches of the campaign remaining.
The clubs’s Suning Group owners have big plans despite missing out on European football.
They had hoped for a big-name boss such as Antonio Conte or Diego Simeone to take the club forward.
However, Spalletti looks likely to be the man Inter turn to to set them back on the journey to greatness.
Sassuolo boss, Eusebio Di Francesco ix expected to be named the new Roma manager.
