Eintracht Frankfurt 1 Borussia Dortmund 2: Ousame Dembele’s stunner and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s cheeky penalty earn first trophy for Thomas Tuchel

PIERRE-EMERICK AUBAMEYANG showed incredible confidence to bring home Borussia Dortmund’s first major trophy in nearly three years.

BVB has been losing finalists in the DFB-Pokal, but held on this time to net the first trophy of the Thomas Tuchel era.

Ousmane Demebele opened the scoring in stunning fashion inside eight minutes.

But Ante Rebic equalised for Eintracht Frankfurt just before the half hour.

Dortmund were lacking in an ideas and given a lifeline when a moment of madness by goalkeeper Lucas Hradecky allowed Aubameyang the chance to give his side the lead again from the spot.

And he made no mistake when he coolly dinked the ball over his opponent.

They YellowBlacks’ last major honour was back in 2014 when, as cup runners-up, they faced Bayern Munich in the German Super Cup — with Jurgen Klopp still the manager.

Since then, it had been trophy heartbreak with back-to-back cup final defeats.

But Dortmund were determined to end their final hoodoo — and came flying out the blocks.

The goal eventually came after eight minutes, and what a goal it was!

Dembele beat his marker with a great touch, before rifling past the goalkeeper from close range to score the 250^th goal of Tuchel’s tenure.

Frankfurt started to come back into the game and took advantage of a good spell of possession to level when Rebic shot past Roman Burki.

The goal knocked Dortmund back and they lost their foothold in the contest.

They were creating chances, but it seemed like a goal would not be forthcoming.

However, Frankfurt stopper Hradecky presented them with that opportunity when he brought down Christian Pulisic.

And Aubameyang made no mistake to make it 40 goals for the season in brilliant fashion.
