French full-back joined City from top flight rivals Arsenal in summer 2011, going on to win two Premier League titles
GAEL CLICHY has confirmed he will be leaving Manchester City this summer after six seasons at the Etihad Stadium.
The French full-back, 31, joined City from top flight rivals Arsenal in 2011, going on to win two Premier League titles.
In a statement, Clichy said: “It’s been a special six years for me at City.
“To win four major trophies and help establish the club as one of the top teams in English football has been an incredible journey that I’m proud to have been a part of.
“It’s amazing to see where the club is today and I am sure there is plenty more success to come.”
Clichy joins fellow long-serving full-back Pablo Zabaleta in calling time on life in Manchester.
Boss Pep Guardiola is now looking at Tottenham star Danny Rose and Schalke ace Sead Kolasinac as replacements for Clichy.
On Clichy's City career, football director Txiki Begiristain said: "Gael has been an important player for this football club and I want to wish him well for the future.
“Since my first day here, he has been an outstanding in the way he has applied himself, both in games and in training.
“He has been a key part in some special moments for this football club and for that he will always be remembered fondly.”
Clichy had joined Man City from Arsenal in 2011 for just £7million and won the club's first-ever Premier League title that same season.
However, he had fallen behind Aleksandar Kolarov in the pecking order and is now set to move on to find first-team football.
