Manchester United players stand to observe minute silence for terror attack victims… as crowd chant ‘Manchester’

Players and staff of both sides fans inside Friends Arena in Stockholm before Europa League final all remembered tragic events of Monday

MANCHESTER UNITED players observed a minute silence and wore black armbands for the victims of the terror attack in Manchester.

On Monday night, bomber Salman Abedi killed 22 people at the city's arena during after an Ariana Grande concert, injuring 59 more.

And with the city shell-shocked, it was decided the game would still go ahead, with thousands of United fans at the Friends Arena in Stockholm for the match against Ajax.

United wore black armbands - and when Slovenia referee Damir Skomina blew his whistle before the game, there was a moment of perfect silence.

But suddenly there was a spontaneous outbreak of applause as fans chanted "Manchester" loudly inside the stadium.

Earlier today there was a sombre atmosphere in the Swedish capital hours after the atrocity - but both fans came together for the match.

There were also fans holding up placards reading messages of support such as "Come on United, do it for Manchester".
