But Allardyce believes promises have been broken and has opted to walk out just days after he kept Palace in the Premier League.

Reports also claim that Allardyce has already cleared his desk at the club's training ground and has no plans to U-turn on his decision to quit.

Big Sam was appointed Palace boss in December following the sacking of Alan Pardew with the tough task of keeping the Eagles in the top flight.

Allardyce made some shrewd signings in the January transfer window including the additions of Mamadou Sakho and Luka Milivojevic.

But further plans to strengthen key areas in the summer hit a brick wall having failed to see eye-to-eye with Parish.

West Brom Tony Pulis also resigned from the club after he kept them in the Premier League which resulted in a bitter legal battle with the Palace chairman.

At the time Pulis stated that his decision to leave was because he was not being backed in the transfer market by the board.
