Chelsea transfer news: Romelu Lukaku is Blues’ £70m priority this summer with Antonio Conte preferring Everton star to Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata
Blues reportedly set their sights on Belgian striker ahead of Spaniard as they prepare to launch bid next month
CHELSEA have made Everton star Romelu Lukaku their No1 target ahead of Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata.
The Blues will reportedly step-up their bid to bring the £70million-rated striker back to Stamford Bridge next month.
The Belgium feels he has “unfinished business” at Chelsea and wants to return to the club he left three years ago.
Lukaku, who scored 25 league goals this season, has rejected a new contract at Everton.
Morata has been chased by the champions since last year, but according to , the Toffees talisman has been prioritised.
It is believed the extra appeal of him counting as a home-grown player under the quota requirements set by the Premier League and Champions League have pushed him to the top of the target list.
Lukaku signed for Chelsea from Anderlecht at the age of 18, which means he qualifies due to him playing in England for three seasons before, and including, the year he turned 21.
It is claimed that Morata, who netted 20 times for Madrid this campaign, is aware that the west London side’s interest has cooled.
The 24-year-old is now said to be exploring other options as he attempts to leave the Bernabeu for regular football.
Everton forked out £28m in 2014 to bring Lukaku to Goodison and have now put a £100m price tag on his head.
But a fee of £70m is expected to be enough to tempt them to part company with the want away ace.
