Jurgen Klopp is ready to test Arsenal’s resolve to hold onto the England midfielder, who is ready to leave the Emirates after six years in North London.
But the Anfield outfit’s initial approach for the £20million-rated Gunners star is likely to bring other would-be bidders out into the open.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has just 12 months left on his current Arsenal deal and has been frustrated by another mixed campaign under Arsene Wenger.
The England star is willing to embrace a new challenge and Klopp’s interest, allied to Champions League football, will be an attraction.
Arsenal, though, are reluctant to let him go but with the player seemingly unlikely to sign a new deal they may feel the need to cash in rather than letting Oxlade-Chamberlain walk out for nothing in 12 months’ time.
