Manchester United will offer £60million for Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos as Jose Mourinho looks set to beat Barcelona to Brazilian
Nou Camp side are said to have offered just over £42m but French giants blocked move
MANCHESTER UNITED will offer Paris Saint-Germain £60million for Marquinhos - to keep him out of the grasp of Barcelona, according to reports.
The Nou Camp side are said to have bid just north of £42m for the Brazilian defender - who cried when he found out he is to be a dad.
Barca wanted 23-year-old Marquinhos to be at the heart of their defence "for a decade", Sport claim.
However they lost out and now it appears Jose Mourinho will beat them to it anyway with a £60m offer.
The Spanish website claims Marquinhos "will become of the defensive pillars of Mourinho's project at Old Trafford".
And they also say that the player's agent is set for talks with Old Trafford chiefs.
United's interest in the versatile defender is nothing new.
And last month it was revealed Mourinho's side had a summer move in mind - with wages of around £8m the mark.
Sport go on to say Marquinhos has met with PSG director of football Patrick Kluivert but turned down all new offers of an improved deal.
