Everton eye West Ham playmaker Manuel Lanzini as possible replacement for Ross Barkley
The Hammers will fight to keep Lanzini after losing controversially losing Dimitri Payer to Marseille in January but Everton could push for deal if Ross Barkley leaves this summer
Everton want to sign West Ham playmaker Manuel Lanzini.
The Toffees are looking for alternatives to Ross Barkley, who is yet to commit his future at Goodison Park, with just a year left on his current deal.
The Hammers, for the second transfer window in a row, could be fighting to hold onto one of their creative stars, following the January departure of Dimitri Payet to Marseille.
The report, Everton boss Ronald Koeman is a big fan of the Argentine schemer, who has bagged eight goals this campaign, including the winner against Tottenham.
West Ham insist Lanzini is not for sale, and will look to improve the squad this summer, with the 24-year-old playing a pivotal role next term.
Lanzini joined the Hammers for £9.4million in March 2016, after an initial loan deal, with his influence on the team growing since Payet's return to France.
The Dutchman is also keen on Swansea's Gylfi Sigurdsson, who is also attracting interest from West Ham.
West Ham boss Slaven Bilic said last month:“He likes to take the responsibility and he has stepped up.
“I’ve spoken to him a lot of times, to try to put him under pressure. Not in a negative way - but because I noticed he wanted that kind of pressure.
“He wants to be recognised as that kind of player. So I pushed him even harder.
"He was No. 10 at River Plate when he was 18 and that doesn’t happen without a reason.”
