NEWCASTLE could be offered the chance to sign Southampton forward Jay Rodriguez this summer, according to reports.
Saints are ready to offload the striker - who scored in Saturday's 2-1 win at Middlesbrough - with two years remaining on his St Mary's deal.
And Rodriguez's representatives have contacted newly-promoted Toon with regards to a summer transfer, report the .
Rodriguez, 27, who signed for Southampton from Burnley in 2012 for about £7million, earned an England call-up in 2013 after an impressive start to life on the south coast.
But in 2014, a horror knee injury ruled him out for 11 months and he has struggled to recapture his form since returning.
Rodriguez has scored five Premier League goals in 23 appearances this season, nine of which he started.
