But Tottenham followers were keen to get there early before the 4.30pm kick-off against the Red Devils and soak up every last moment of the Lane’s unique atmosphere.

Towering next to the stadium is the club’s new home.

Building work is already well under way on their 61,000 all-seated ground, which they will move to for the 2017/18 campaign.

Next season they will play all of their home matches at Wembley Stadium while construction work continues.

Their new stadium is set to become one of the most advanced in Europe.

It will feature a retractable pitch and the biggest single-tier stand in the UK – with an impressive 17,000 home end that has been inspired by Borussia Dortmund’s Yellow Wall.

Windows will be installed in the tunnel to allow visitors to watch the players emerge and there will be heated seats behind the dug-out.
