Chelsea win the Premier League title after beating West Brom to seal their sixth domestic crown with two games to spare

CHELSEA were crowned champions once again on Friday night after beating West Brom to clinch their sixth league title.

Antonio Conte's side beat West Brom at The Hawthorns thanks to Michy Batshuayi's late goal and sealed the title with two games to spare.

Friday's win moved them 10 points clear of second-placed Tottenham who have three games remaining.

Spurs' loss at West Ham this time last week left Chelsea with the opportunity to seal the title before Tottenham's next game against Manchester United on Sunday.

And Conte's Blues made no mistake in sweeping aside Middlesbrough on Monday night and then West Brom on Friday.

It is Chelsea's second title in three seasons and fifth in the Roman Abramovich era to go with their First Division crown back in 1954-55.

The Blues have been a class apart from the rest of the field and but for a couple of defeats in April against Crystal Palace and Manchester United they would've wrapped it up even sooner.

Chelsea round off their season with two home games against Watford on Monday and Sunderland next Sunday, when they will lift the Premier League trophy.

Conte's men will look to make it a double when they face Arsenal in the FA Cup final at Wembley on May 27.

The Chelsea manager said: "This achievement is a good achievement for my players – I have to say thanks for their commitment and work rate. They showed great attitude and patience and will and desire to do something great."

"Now after this win I think we must be happy and pleased for all the season.

"It wasn’t easy for me to arrive in England and try a different language after a bad season (for the club).

"This win is for the players because they deserved this with great attitude and commitment."

Chelsea captain John Terry added: "It’s fantastic for me but these boys have been on the pitch doing it week in week out.

"The togetherness in group is special. When we lost to Arsenal and Liverpool – to come back and regroup was unbelievable and fundamental in our season."

Speaking on Sky Sports, former Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard said: "There was a little feeling as the game went on that something might fall for Chelsea and it's ironic that it falls to a man that's not had much to do this year.

"They've been by far the strongest team this year, the consistency, the desire the quality in the team, they deserve it."
