Rolando Aarons, who played just 78 minutes of league action this season, posed with his winners medal around his neck.

American full-back DeAndre Yedlin rocked up wearing a sleeveless top whilst Rob Elliot and Paul Dummett were also in attendance.

Sammy Ameobi spent the majority of the season on loan at Bolton but couldn't resist joining his team-mates for the long haul.

For boss Benitez, celebrations will but cut short as he knows the hard work starts now.

The Spaniard, whose long-term future at Newcastle is unclear, roared that he eyes more silverware as Toon boss.

After lifting the trophy he said: "Hopefully this will just be the first trophy. That would be a good thing, no?

“At the end, I made sure every player, every staff member had a picture with the trophy. You have to remember these moments.

“I am really proud of these players. How does this trophy compare to others? I have been a manager for so many years but you appreciate it more when you get older.

“When you play 46 games in a very difficult season after going down, to do it and to do it in style is really, really emotional and I’m very proud.”
