Hughes said: "John’s got to move somewhere, he’s someone I know very well but I think there would be a lot of interest in him.

"Whether or not we’d be able to present anything to John that would make him think, I don’t know, I haven’t had that conversation.

"But we spoke briefly and had a word after the Chelsea game here this year and had a laugh and a joke about things about where his future lies.

"From what I’ve seen of him and when he’s been involved, you’re not just getting John Terry the player, you’re getting John Terry the leader and the individual as well.

"He’s got a lot of experience that he can impart so someone will benefit from that."

Also on the defensive end, Hughes is hoping to make Bruno Martins Indi's loan deal permanent in the summer.

He added: "He’s not our player so we’re in the hands of Porto. They hold all the cards, they’re his club.

"I know Bruno is very happy at the club and it’s our intention to do everything in our power to make that happen.

"But it could be dependent on how easy or difficult his club are to negotiate with, so it’s not one that’s going to happen very quickly, let’s put it that way.

"It could be that at the moment Porto have made a stand that they don’t want to sell.

"That might just be part of the negotiating process. It seems like it’s going to run and run for some time.

"It’s not progressed in recent weeks. Our intention is to get Bruno over the line if we can, and if not we’ll see what else is available."
