Jose Mourinho faces tough battle to re-sign defender from Burnley this summer despite sell-on fee advantage

Man United boss Jose Mourinho is keen on bringing Keane back to Old Trafford just three years after the centre-back was sold to Burnley by Louis van Gaal for a mere £2million.

Keane is expected to fetch over £30m this time around, but the Red Devils face serious competition from a number of other English giants.

claims Tottenham, Liverpool and Everton are also desperate to sign the 24-year-old, and the team promising the most playing time could come out on top.

However, the ball is firmly in United’s court from a financial point of view as they are entitled to 25 per cent of Keane’s future fee.

Mourinho isn’t afraid to fly in the face of his predecessors by re-signing players, with the world-record £89m capture of Paul Pogba proof that not even Sir Alex Ferguson is safe from his scrutiny.
