BOLTON WANDERERS remain on course to be promoted but their win over Port Vale was marred by fan trouble.
Phil Parkinson’s men won 2-0 at Vale Park to remain second in the Sky Bet League One championship, but their travelling supporters ran onto the pitch after David Wheater opened the scoring.
The centre-back found the back of the net in the second half, heading home from a free-kick, before Gary Madine sealed the victory in the closing stages.

But the game had to be brought to halt for ten minutes when referee Carl Boyeson lead the players down the tunnel after the Valiants faithful clashed with their opposing fans on the pitch.
The police had to intervene when the trouble got out of hand, with Port Vale’s boss Michael Brown condemning the violence.
He said: “It is very disappointing. When security staff are actually taking the players off the pitch and talking safety, it is very worrying.
“I think we understand fans want to celebrate and it is a fine line how far people take it and unfortunately some people take it that bit far.”
It capped off a miserable day for the home side who were reduced to ten-men after 33 minutes when Rigino Cicilia was shown his marching orders for two yellow cards.
They are currently in the relegation zone with two games to play, as they trail 20th placed Gillingham bu four points.
