Lyon’s match at Bastia abandoned after fans invade pitch for a second time during half time
Hundreds of Bastia fans stormed the pitch before the match and after a second incident the decision was made to call off the match
LYON'S match at Bastia has been sensationally abandoned after repeated pitch invasions by home supporters.
An incident before the match saw hundreds of Bastia fans storm the field after what appeared to be an argument between Memphis Depay and a local ultra.
And incredible footage also showed a home STEWARD attacking Lyon defender Mouctar Diakhaby.
The visitors initially refused to play after being caught up in the attack, but eventually agreed to start the match when order appeared to have been restored.
But all that changed after a fan ran onto the pitch during the half time break towards Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes, who appeared furious.
During the initial attack, Lopes remained on the pitch confronting the fans while most of his team-mates fled to the dressing room.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas said: "The Bastia Security Director hit Anthony Lopes.
"The Bastia players were irreproachable, they protected us."
Bastia have since released a statement condemning the violent acts.
The despicable scenes in Corsica are the second time in four days that a Lyon match has been marred by crowd trouble and pitch invasions.
Thousands of Lyon supporters fled onto the pitch during their home match against Besiktas after flares were thrown by Turkish fans in the upper tier.
Supporters of both teams also exchanged blows in the stands at the Europa League quarter-final match.
Uefa have already opened disciplinary proceedings against both sides.
