Newcastle transfer news: Real Sociedad striker Willian Jose targeted by Toon in club-record £27million move
Magpies are one of a number of clubs in English football keeping tabs on the Brazilian hitman
NEWCASTLE are considering smashing their record transfer fee for Real Sociedad striker Willian Jose, according to reports.
The Brazilian forward will cost Toon £27million should they make the ambitious swoop this summer.
Jose, 25, has scored 12 goal in all competitions this season.
The Sun exclusively revealed Everton have earmarked him as a possible replacement for Romelu Lukaku.
Now, report Newcastle, Southampton and Watford are also in the mix for Jose.
The Magpies would need to splash out £10m more than the fee they paid Real Madrid for Michael Owen in 2005.
Jose caught the eye at homeland clubs Gremio and Santos before joining Real Madrid on a six-month trial in 2014.
He was then released and spent two seasons at Real Zaragoza, before being loaned out to Las Palmas and consequently sold to Sociedad last summer.
The Magpies want attacking reinforcements for what looks likely to be their return to the Premier League.
French winger and Guingamp star Marcus Coco, 20, is also a £10m target.
