Arsenal fans chant ‘You’re not fit to wear the shirt’ at players while refusing to give Hector Bellerin ball before hurling abuse at team bus
Gunners right-back was one of a number of flops in shock 3-0 away defeat to Crystal Palace
ARSENAL fans chanted "You're not fit to wear the shirt" at players and refused to give Hector Bellerin the ball for a throw-in during their humiliation at Crystal Palace.
Alexis Sanchez was among four Gunners stars who walked over to supporters to apologise after the game, before the side were booed as they got on the team bus.
Bellerin was one of a number of flops in the shock 3-0 defeat.
And he felt the ire of supporters first-hand while attempting to get the ball back after it had gone out of play.
Irate fans not only withheld the ball but sang disparaging songs at the Spaniard - usually a fan favourite.
That was then spread to the rest of the Arsenal side as they were hammered in South London.
The flashpoint came in the second half at Selhurst Park - which was Arsenal's first league loss against the Eagles since 1994.
Goals from Andros Townsend, Yohan Cabaye and Luka Milivojevic gave boss Sam Allardyce a crucial three points in the quest for survival.
Fans were split about the song on social media, however, with some saying Arsene Wenger should get the full brunt of the blame.
One user said: "You’re not fit to wear the shirt,'' AFC fans. Players pathetic but it's Wenger who recruits the players, who sets the tone. Time to go."
Another posted: "Arsenal fans refusing to return the ball to Bellerin. Wow. This is toxic."
A fellow viewer said: "Arsenal fans not giving the ball to Bellerin when they are trailing. Sums up the football club."
Anthony Baker posted: "Wow. Arsenal fans not giving their own player the ball back and then start singing 'you're not fit to wear the shirt'."
Another said: "Most of us fans have loved Wenger and have been more than patient, but enough is enough, it's time for a change."
A fellow user said: "Wenger out songs loud and proud. Fully deserved! Enough is enough."
Meanwhile, Palace fans saw the funny side.
They chanted: "Oh, Arsene Wenger, we want you to stay."
