Manchester United transfer news: Alexis Sanchez ‘receives phone call from Jose Mourinho about possibility of joining Old Trafford’, according to Chilean TV
Arsenal superstar has also reportedly been contacted by City boss Pep Guardiola as summer transfer tussle heats up
ALEXIS SANCHEZ has received a phone call from Jose Mourinho asking him about the chances of joining Manchester United, according to reports.
Chile's 'El Show de Prensafutbol' claim the Arsenal star has been sought out by Mourinho, as well as Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, about a possible summer transfer.
Chelsea have also reportedly opened talks with the 28-year-old, sparking a three-way Premier League fight for his signature.
Sanchez, whose Arsenal deal expires in summer 2018, looks set to leave the Emirates at the end of the season.
He hinted a move to Chelsea may be on the cards once his Gunners contract finishes.
While on international duty in March, Sanchez said: "I am happy in London and hope to finish my contract there.
"I'd like to stay in the city but with a team that is winning things, that has a winning mentality.
"I'm 28 years old, I still have a lot of years ahead of me. I am a player who looks after himself."
Mourinho claimed last week he has no time for players who put lifestyle ahead of their jobs.
The United manager said: "If the first thing you think is where you’re going to live then Los Angeles would be first choice, then Vitoria Setubal, so you can go to the beach every day.
“But we want people who are immediately engaged or dreaming about coming here.
“These are the ones we want. If they want to move to London, enjoy London, we don’t want you.”
Arsene Wenger has moved to reassure Arsenal fans key man Sanchez is going nowhere in a hurry.
He said: "‘He has a one and a half year contract.
"I don’t see what suddenly that debate is about.
"We are professional football people, our job is to perform as long as we are somewhere.
"When I sign a contract, I commit until the last day of my contract. That is what it is to be professional.
"I don’t understand this anxiety, one and a half years before the end of a contract. It’s absolutely denying what a professional guy is about."
Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in signing Sanchez, having reportedly begun negotiations with his agent this week.
