Manchester United misfit Luke Shaw begs Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino to save him from Old Trafford hell
Out of favour left-back desperate for reunion with his former Southampton boss at Spurs
LUKE SHAW wants Mauricio Pochettino to rescue him from his Old Trafford hell.
Shaw fears he has no choice but to leave Manchester United in the summer after Jose Mourinho’s amazing verbal attack at the weekend.
The England left-back made his name under Poch at Southampton and is hoping for a reunion with the Argentine boss at Tottenham.
Spurs fears they will lose £50million-rated Danny Rose to Manchester City in the summer and have lined up Shaw to replace him.
Shaw last night arrived with the United squad at the Lowry Hotel ahead of this evening’s Premier League clash with at Everton at Old Trafford.
But despite the clear-the-air talks with the Special One yesterday, any peace truce will only be a temporary and fragile one until the end of the season.
The defender, who has been doing extra training in the evenings to try to get himself back in shape, was stunned by the severity of Mourinho’s attack at the weekend.
Ironically, Shaw was among a bunch of players, including Paul Pogba and Wayne Rooney, who trained on the pitch at Old Trafford on Saturday after the goalless draw with WBA.
Shaw was the last one to come off, while at the same time Mourinho was publicly slamming him in the press conference room.
The Special One claimed he could not compare Shaw to his rivals for a place at left-back because of “the way he trains and commits, the focus, the ambition. He is a long way behind.”
Shaw, who has not played since Mourinho scalded him for talking to Bournemouth players during the 1-1 draw with the Cherries on March 4, wants to join Spurs.
Mourinho claimed he was a long way behind Marcos Rojo, Ashley Young, Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind for a starting berth.
